Details on In Utero Foals

Ever year, we offer a few of our coming foals for sale in utero. For us, this means that long before the foal is born, we know that it will be going to a wonderful, loving home. We don't have to worry about marketing foals or scrambling to try to find homes for our foals as they get older. From day one, they each have their own special person to call their own.

It is also a great opportunity for buyers, as they get to know their foal from the very beginning. They can name their foal and get to experience every bit of the foal's growing up, either in person, if they live close enough to visit regularly, or through picture and video updates, phone calls and email. They can make all the decisions about how their foal is raised from birth until weaning, including when the foal is weaned and whether or not the foal is keured.

If a buyer is looking for a very specific mare/stallion combination, they also have the option of purchasing a foal before it is even conceived! They can choose the mare they would like to use, the stallion they would like to breed to, and even, to a limited extent, the time of year they would like to breed.

Lastly, it is a situation that greatly lends itself to payment plans, for the many people who are not able to come up with a large lump sum to buy a Friesian! The foal can be paid for in small or large payments over the mare's entire pregnancy, and up until the foal is 6 months old. Our payment plans on foals are entirely flexible and tailored to meet the needs of each individual buyer.

Planned In Utero Foals for 2011

Meinse 439 x Undara MF
We worn torn this year between breeding Undara to Teade 392, or to Meinse 439. Teade is a known quantity, as
he has a large number of foals on the ground, one of which was a Mythic Friesians foal. Meinse is a
young stallion and has few offspring as of yet, so it is hard to know what he will produce. However,
after long discussion and debate, we decided to give Meinse a chance. His sire, Heinse, produced some
amazing offspring including our own Femke van de Brink. If Meinse follows in his sire's footsteps,
he will provide both the refinement and extra bit of star quality that we are
looking for in a match with Undara.
This foal is sale pending.

??? x Pieterke fan 'e Kamperdyk
We have not yet selected which stallion will be bred to Pieterke. Since she is for sale,
we are holding off making a final decision until we know if she will still be here
when breeding season starts.
If she is, we will be looking at stallions that produce height and substance to
pair with her. Currently, we are considering Feike 395, Lolke 371, and Wander 352.
If you are interested in this in utero foal, there is still time to select your sire!

Tsjerk 328 Sport + Pref x Vokeltsje D
This is a match-up that we have been eagerly anticipating for as long as we have owned Vogue.
We have long avoided using Tsjerk as a sire due to his tendency to produce poor walks and
'hot' horses. However, with Vogue's stellar walk and excellent temperament, we feel
she will well balance Tsjerk's shortcomings. Tsjerk offers exceptionally old bloodlines,
excellent leg quality, and a bit of bulk to the equation. Regardless of
whether the foal is a filly or colt, it will stay at Mythic Friesians as a
potential future breeding horse.

Sape 381 x Vokeltsje D
Originally, this breeding was planned to be Lammert x Vogue. However, with
the news that the great Sape 381 will be coming to North America in time for
the 2010 breeding season, we re-arranged our plans. Sape is the only living Age line
stallion that ships cooled semen in North America. This matchup will provide our
very first Age x Age breeding.
There are almost no Friesians anywhere in the world with bloodlines as rare as that!
And with Sape's excellent feet and leg scores, we expect him to be an excellent
sire for Vogue's foal. This foal will be kept by Mythic Friesians.

We are now taking deposits on 2011 foals.
